The Wildlife Trusts' Save our Seas team
There has never been a more important time to stand up for the UK’s marine life. The Government is currently writing wide-ranging new laws to control how our seas are managed and protected. We need YOU to help ensure that these laws provide a healthy future for our seas and sea life.
Join the SoS team here and help us make waves!
As a member of the SoS team you’ll receive regular bulletins, including:
Email updates on the UK Marine Bill and other hot topics in marine conservation.
Tips and resources to help you get actively involved in our marine campaigns and projects.
Invitations to take part in major campaign events.
We’ll ask you to take action for marine wildlife in a variety of ways. This might include sending a letter or email to the Government, contacting your MP, collecting petition signatures, taking part in public events and helping to get marine conservation in the news. In 2007, SoS activity revolved around the following key events:

White Paper (March to June 2007)
- Government launched White Paper consultation on the Marine Bill.
Marine Week (August 2007) - The Wildlife Trusts led a nationwide celebration of our seas, with events at coastal and inland locations.
Save Lyme Bay Reefs campaign (Sept-Dec 2007) - Defra issued a consultation on options to protect the reefs from scallop dredging.
Queen’s Speech (November 2007) – A draft Marine Bill was included in the Queen’s Speech.
In 2008, we'll be keeping up the pressure for a Marine Bill and Marine Reserves. We’ll keep you up to date throughout the year and prompt you to take action at the critical times.
